Kingstree (SC) High School has seen its share of memorable seasons, but few moments have resonated quite like the one that unfolded in late January, when girls’ basketball coach Brother James Price secured his 100th career win. The milestone wasn’t just a personal achievement — it was a testament to a program transformed.
Brother Price, a Spring ’97 initiate of the Benedict College Chapter, The Gamma Mu, with more than 25 years in the coaching ranks, inherited a team that had struggled for years. This season, with a roster dominated by freshmen, the Lady Blazers were expected to finish last in their region. Instead, they fought their way into the playoffs, embodying the resilience and discipline Brother Price has instilled since day one.
His work hasn’t gone unnoticed. The South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association has long recognized Brother Price’s contributions, and Kingstree’s athletic community credits him with restoring pride to the girls’ basketball program. Off the court, he lends his experience to the Blazers football team, further cementing his influence across the school.
For Kingstree, Brother Price’s 100th win is more than a statistic — it’s a symbol of what steady leadership and belief in young athletes can build.
