"The Gamma Mu Alumni Association"

The W.E. Johnson Community Foundation "Gamma Mu Alumni Association" (a registered 501(c3) non-profit organization), a guiding force for young Black students pursuing higher education, proudly announces its fundraising campaign in honor of its 75th Diamond Anniversary. This significant milestone not only celebrates the rich legacy of the Gamma Mu Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. at Benedict College, but also serves as a rallying cry to uplift the next generation of scholars and leaders. Our mission is to raise essential funds to provide scholarships and mentorship for young Black students preparing to embark on their collegiate journey. These scholarships go beyond financial support; they represent a commitment to nurturing the dreams and potential of these bright minds. By supporting this cause, you are not only honoring the impactful work of the Gamma Mu Alumni Association but also helping pave the way for students determined to make a difference. Join us in this endeavor to empower and inspire, unlocking doors of opportunity and fostering academic success for future leaders.

Mail checks to the Gamma Mu Alumni Association,

As a highlight of Gamma Mu's 75th Diamond Anniversary celebration, we are excited to unveil a monument that represents the chapter's longstanding legacy as a "Power for Good in the 21st Century" within the Columbia Metro Area. This monument, a remarkable blend of art and history, stands as a tribute to Gamma Mu's three-quarters of a century of empowering young Black students through education, brotherhood, and community service. It symbolizes the aspirations, achievements, and resilience of all who have been a part of our journey since 1949.

Designed by a distinguished Gamma Mu alumni artist, this monument captures the essence of our mission—to uplift, inspire, and pave the way for future leaders. Its unveiling not only commemorates the chapter’s rich history but also serves as a beacon of hope and a reminder of the ongoing work to promote equity, opportunity, and excellence in education.

We invite you to join us in this historic moment, celebrating Gamma Mu's past accomplishments and looking ahead to a future filled with even greater impact and success in the community.

2026 Goals

Dear Gamma Mu Nupes,

As we embark on the journey that is 2026, let’s move forward together with intention and unity, knowing that “The Future Is Now.” Walking with purpose means striving toward meaningful goals, and this year holds endless possibilities for what we can achieve together. It’s up to each of us to help preserve and strengthen the legacy of our Gamma Mu Chapter — a legacy built on leadership, service, and excellence.

Here’s how you can make a difference in the 2026 year ahead:

• Support Our Foundation Board Initiatives: Get involved and commit to the projects and programs led by our W.E. Johnson Community Foundation Board. Your participation is critical to the success of our initiatives.

• Uphold Our Standards against Hazing: Let’s continue our unwavering commitment to a hazing-free environment, supporting both our fraternity’s stance and Benedict College’s zero-tolerance policy. Gamma Mu remains in full compliance—let’s keep setting the example.

• Champion Academic Excellence: Continue to contribute to our Endowment Academic Scholarship Program by enrolling in a monthly automatic debit payment plan. Every contribution helps us invest in education of a young black male’s future.

• Be an Active Member: Join our Foundation and Alumni Association committees. Support fundraising and dues initiatives—every dollar counts.

• your local alumni chapter. Community involvement strengthens our bonds.

Behind the scenes, your W.E. Johnson Community Foundation Board is laying a solid organizational foundation to sustain our legacy for generations to come. Let’s celebrate some recent milestones:

• We’ve defined our vision, purpose, mission, and set clear goals for growth and impact.

• Our internal business model is being refined for clarity, structure, and operational excellence, including a new organizational hierarchy.

• The board is expanding to include talented non-Gamma Mu members who bring valuable expertise.

• We’re developing a new website that integrates the Gamma Mu Alumni Association, making it an essential resource for all members.

• A newly formed Gamma Mu Advisory Council, in partnership with Columbia Alumni, will mentor undergraduates and ensure excellence in our undergraduate chapter’s daily operations.

Our main objectives for 2026 are ambitious and attainable with your support:

1. Developing New Leaders: Launching a mentor/mentee program to nurture the next generation of Gamma Mu leaders.

2. 80th Gamma Mu Celebration Committee: Forming a committee to plan our 80th anniversary in 2029, with younger brothers stepping into leadership roles. Our goal is to raise $100,000 for our Endowment Academic Scholarship Program.

3. Community Service: Organizing two impactful service events—one on Charter Day and another in the spring.

4. Spring Retreat: Hosting an annual retreat for undergraduates to brainstorm fundraising opportunities for the future.

5. Recognizing Academic Achievement: Honoring our first Endowment recipients and seeking corporate donations to grow our Endowment fund.

This is our moment to rise together, to walk with purpose, and to lift the torch of achievement even higher. New leadership is needed, and we believe you’re ready to answer the call. Are you prepared to help us reach new heights and shape our chapter’s future?

Well Brothers The Future Is Now!

Let’s keep achieving together—side by side—as we make 2026 a year of bold action and continued excellence.
